The Astrographic Catalogue – Potsdam Observatory

The Carte du Ciel enterprise
A brief historical account The Astrographic Catalogue The sky charts

Declination zone: (+39° to +32°) Assigned to the Potsdam Observatory

Astrophysikalische Observatorium zu Potsdam, POTSDAM, Germany

The Potsdam section of the astrographic catalogue covers only a small portion of the zone assigned. Following World War I, the Observatory had to withdraw from the project, thus the entire zone was re-photographed and the plates measured by the Oxford, Uccle and Hyderabad Observatories. The zone between +36° and +39° was covered by the Nizamiah Observatory, Hyderabad and published as the last 4 vols. of the Nizamiah Obs. astrographic catalogue. The Observatoire de Belgique carried out the +34° to +35° zone and Oxford the +32° to +33° (known as Oxford II) zone.
